Our Design brief was to create a space so unique, it could not be duplicated. That meant carefully researching other venues in Uluwatu and working within the property limitations. The end result is a space that celebrates art, music and surf lifestyle drawing inspiration from the ANALOG era of the 60’s and 70’s
The Cafe is the first place you enter and at the heart of ANALOG. The look is heavily inspired by Japan’s Jazz Kissa or ‘Listening bars’ with their woody interiors, vinyl records and artwork. Fueled in part by the hipster led revival in Vinyl records, Listening bars are now trending in culture capitals around the world from Berlin and Stockholm to New York. We didn’t want it to look like a coffee bar or a salad bar. Our goal was to merge a modern coffee bar with a Japanese listening bar. True to the original Jazza Kissa bars, we’ve kept a small road frontage and are very discreetly tucked away off the road.
The Surf shop is located at the back of the cafe and heavily inspired by Mollusk surf shop in California with its plywood walls and earthy, rootsy feel. The smell of coffee mixed with surf wax to the soundtrack of Jimi Hendrix / Doors over the speakers. Homewares mixed in with surfboards and clothing.
The outdoor Garden restaurant is ANALOG’s hidden surprise – a tranquil tropical space, hidden from the road that opens up behind the cafe. You have to actually walk through the cafe and surfshop to get there. In respect to our location we’ve infused a lot of Balinese accents such as a Hindu temples and offerings, natural stone and local hardwoods. We’ve lit the space up at night with a fireplace, candles and mood lights. Designed as a cool quiet place to retreat, its perfectly suited for small events of 50-100 persons.
